The events scheduled by the Perugia State Archives to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri will start on Thursday 25 March.
It is a series of events in collaboration with the Municipal Library of Spoleto, which will take place until next December 31st: lecturae Dantis, musical and choreographic performances, video production, online conferences.
The project, conceived in 2019 and strongly supported by the director Luigi Rambotti, was joined by educational institutions, acting schools, music schools, various actors and performers, as well as the Umbria Region, the municipality of Spoleto, the municipality of Norcia and the municipality of Cerreto di Spoleto.
On the debut day, March 25, at 9:00 am, professor of Italian Studies at the Kore University of Enna Rodney John Lokaj, from the headquarters of the State Archives Section, in a video conference with the Dante Alighieri Society of Camberra and the Embassy of Italy in Australia, will hold a conversation on Dante Alighieri, in liaison with the Cultural Institutes at various Italian embassies around the world.
At 10:00 am, the inauguration of an exhibition with fragments of the Comedy, memoirs relating to the Poet preserved in the Section of the State Archives of Spoleto will be held, with contingent presences and broadcast deferred on various social channels.
At 11:00 will follow the inauguration of another exhibition, implemented in the same way, at the Municipal Library of Spoleto.
Ancient editions of Dante’s work, maps and particularly interesting drawings will be exhibited.
In the event of an improvement in the pandemic situation, guided tours are planned, with a limited number and with reservation.
