Press Release / Spoleto Town Hall

Spoleto can be called the inspirational muse for the Study Abroad program of the University of West Georgia. On Friday, June 7 at 9:30am at the Hall of the Dukes in the Town Hall, the commissioner Battistina Vargiu will meet with the professors and students from this American university. The students will present pieces of creative writing written during their period of study in Spoleto.

Spoleto was chosen from many cities throughout Umbria and Italy to be the site of this important initiative of the West Georgia University where a Study Abroad program in Italy was organized for the very first time.

The program was developed by the professors of English literature Chad Davidson and Josh Masters and lasted five weeks. It offered a wide variety of tourist and cultural experiences that

involved many participants from the territory of Spoleto (among these the Hotel Hospitality School of Spoleto, allowing the West Georgia students active involvement on the hotelier ampus.).

The program consisted of a journey through the history and landscape of Umbria (coordinated by Daniela Cittadoni, technical director of Tasting Travel), as well as instruction of the Italian

language and culture (offered by Elisa Bassetti, director of the language school Artelingua). This granted the students a truly unique experience of study and growth while at the same time enriching and enhancing our Umbrian territory.

“It is our hope,” said Daniela Cittadoni and Elisa Bassetti, who will participate in the Town Hall meeting tomorrow, “that this collaboration is renewed year after year thanks to the commitment and dedication of everyone involved, and that Spoleto presents itself once again as a privileged place of inspiration, art and culture.”
