November 11th is San Martino’s day. We celebrate the harvest of the new wine and we cook the so-called “mostaccioli”, made of “mosto” the sweet grape juice extracted from grapes, and anise.
The trees turn red and orange and it is time to cook chestnuts on an open fire enjoying the last glass of the old wine with our families and our best friends.
But this is also the time of the olive harvest and soon we will taste a savoury bruschetta with the new olive oil, some garlic and salt on a toasted Umbrian white bread. “Umbria is (definitely) the place to be ” – this is the motto of the Oil festival “Frantoio aperti” (open mills).
Umbrian people will generously take you inside their genuine world…Watch the video!
